Do we still need doctors?

"In a world of limited resources can we actually afford, and do we still need, doctors?"

This is the tagline for the debate being held by the North Wales NHS Trust next week. If anyone is in north Wales on Thursday week and fancies popping along, could you do me a favour and let me know what answer they decided on?

Cheers.

I really don't know what to say...

HAHAHAHA!!

I'm sure (??) that the title was meant as an inflammatory statement merely to cause a stir and create some attention.

I also don't know what PMSL means. I must be getting old :-)

Ewww. I hope you don't mean that literally.

I really dislike the liberal use of the word 'literally' but couldn't find another to fit the bill on this occasion!

I've just been unsuccessful at getting a place in medical school this year.

Not news in itself, but the advert for the 'Physicians Assistant' diploma course that arrived with my rejection letter was a tad galling.

Just stumbled on your blog and your last post in particular was very moving. There is so much often said about how the old are not cared for enough in hospital or are simply a forgotten generation generally in society. It is so heartening to read your attitude. I shall come back again!

they basically trashed doctors and said healthcare no longer centres on doctors, so pretty much the answer was no, doctors are no longer needed
