Things that you don't want to hear when you're coming to the end of a busy night shift...

1. That England is having its worst snowfall this decade and the met office has put out a severe weather warning across most of the country.

I have the sinking feeling that the day shift won't be arriving meaning I won't be going home any time soon... :(

Sympathy and understanding. Perhaps new admissions won't get in either and in-patients will get a bit better under your tender care thus needing less attention so that you can get your head down for 5 minutes.

i was wondering if you could tell me how a trainee surgeons (yr2) life is in terms of social life? do they have enough time for family? what are the typical working hours? also why are some surgeons so arrogant?

cheers

I did manage to get home OK, one of the regs took pity on me and looked after the on call bleep while the day person battled her way in to work...

I'm not a surgeon, but I know a man who is. The Ferret is a surgeon in training and I think he is in a better position to answer your questions. But being an anaesthetist is great!
