Bank Holiday Monday

Today I learned (among other things):

- the Bohr equation for measuring physiological dead space
- the side effects of suxamethonium
- the sensory nerve supply to the foot and how to go about doing ankle blocks
- more about hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction
- the Bernoulli effect
- what “pontyning” means
- that once again, my social life has vanished into the ether…

I’d like to think that other people were having more fun than me, so tell me… What did you do on your Bank Holiday?

well personally, I learnt that the hospital grinds to a complete halt here, and that a 14 hour shift from 12 noon until 2am is coimpletely normal. In fact, Im in the middle of it...,

I learnt that the Domestos Mould and Mildew remover does exactly what it says on the tin (spray it on, turn round, where has the mildew gone?) - it might have just saved me my deposit (even if the back wall of my old flat is now a light yellow instead of an orange colour, and my green trousers are now flecked with white...)

i didnt even know this was a bank holiday ... currently in China, i spent my monday travelling on a train, and wondering if i was spontaneously developing either a pneumothorax or DVT ... both of which i think can be attributed to pure hypochondria and stressing over nothing.

by tuesday I had learnt that although 42 hours on a 4700km train ride is a character-building and interesting experience, there is no way i am doing it again. :)

I learnt that Ikea on bank holidays is bad... but not as bad as almost crashing my boyfriends lovely big shiny car into a roundabout because big cars take longer to slow down than dinky little ones like mine! :-s

I was working...dealing with customer complaints, supporting three other departments (while my own department lay unmanned and was like an utter bin by the time I got back to it...15 minutes befor ethe end of my shift!)

Then again, it wasn't technically a bank holiday as we get a local holiday in a week or so instead...

It's almost a chimp-faced Australian cricketer.
